Very impressive collection of rescued animals that are well cared for. Well worth the price of admission, particularly knowing that the money contributes to the welfare of such a wide array of the animal kingdom. The rescued residents …

This place was a pleasant surprise. It housed a lot more than just Gators. There were all type of animals from pigs to fish to toads. When we walked into the place there were many pigs all had signs say be careful they might bite you. But the staff said it was okay to pet them. They also had a huge turtle that you could pet. The staff was extremely helpful and informative. The one thing that I would recommend is that you bring five or $10 bills with you so when you are walking through and somebody wants to hold or pet an animal the staff will allow you to hold them but you have to pay an additional 5 or 10 dollars. If you have it handy that's makes it a little easier to just pay on the spot. They also have some stingrays but you cannot touch or pet them. The sloth exhibit was actually pretty interesting and you get a pretty good up and close look at the sloth. One of the thing I thought was pretty cool is they have like a bubble for young kids can crawl into and be on the same level as the alligator so they can basically look at the alligator face to face. Overall it was a very pleasant surprise. One last thing it is located on the second floor so you'd have to go use one of the stairwells going up to the second floor at the end of the building as it is easy to miss.

Hi Mike, Thank you for your exceedingly kind review. It really assists our future guests in planning their visit to our rescue center. Yes, we are located on the second floor and there is an elevator if guests do not wish to take the stairs. We hope you will be able to visit us again soon! Cynthia D. My husband and I are visiting Clearwater Beach for our anniversary and decided to take the trolley to Johns Pass for some lunch and shopping. We came upon this place as we were wandering around. It's $15 per adult and well worth it. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable of the animals and several of them walk around the answer questions and give you information on them. The animals have names and you can tell the staff and animals care for one another by how they interact. ( One of the staff members were feeding the ground hogs and I swear the little fella was hugging her lol so cute). It's not a huge place but they have everything from baby- big alligators to a pig ( that you can pet) to snakes and spiders to skunks and this little cutie in the picture that I forgot was it is.. like a fox cat. Not sure but sure is beautiful. Some of the enclosures have a sticker on them letting you know they like to be held and you can pay a little extra to do so. The money goes towards the cost of caring for the animals and I believe I was told they rehabilitate and release the ones that can be and the ones that can't are at the center to educate the public. It was worth the money and interesting to walk through. I recommend visiting.

Response from the owner

Hi Christal, Thank you for your extremely generous review. What a wonderful way to celebrate your anniversary with a unique experience for animal lovers! I personally could watch the Prairie Dogs all day. The “fox cat” is actually a Genet. They are related to the cat family, but not as closely as it is to civets and mongooses! They do act like cats though and can always use more cat toys. Thank you for your recommendation to our future traveler to our destination. Please stop by anytime and say hello to your new furry and scaly friends. Cynthia D. Director of Sales and Marketing Alligator & Wildlife Discovery Center

Took my little nephew there on Sunday and we loved it. He was able to pet a pig, a tortoise, and high five an alligator. The lemurs were adorable. We had so much fun! …

Response from the owner

Hi Jill, We are delighted to hear that you and your nephew were able to experience our educational wildlife center prior to the fire. Unfortunately, Barley our favorite pig did not survive. I am happy to report that the lemurs, Rudolph, the tortoises, turtles, and nearly all of the alligators and crocs are all doing well! We plan on opening again as soon as possible.
