Our new shelter kitty needed some minor surgery done; Dr. Shawn was able to accommodate us a few days prior to our scheduled surgery day as per our request. He used state-of-the-art technology to accomplish what needed to be done. As a …
I would love to say that I had a good experience here but I did not. My cat lost a lot of weight very rapidly and was turning jaundiced. My sister was looking into places in town I could take her for emergency and we found this place. Everyone that worked there was genuinely kind but the main vet who helped us said we could take my cat an hour away to fort collins to stay at a 24-hour vet where they would put a feeding tube in the throat (He said he, nor anyone in Laramie could do it) or we could put her down. I was worried about sending her away or just putting her down so I called a vet tech friend of mine and he said I should suggest force-feeding. The vet kept her there for 5 days force-feeding and giving her fluids, then I took her home. She hates the food they gave me which means she is barely eating. They haven't called me once to make sure she is doing okay and they didn't explain what any blood work or tests meant. I was left confused the whole time and the cost was so expensive. I just brought her to another vet in town who said she could do the feeding tube and it would be a quarter of what I have already paid. The procedure is taking less than an hour and she can come home the same night. I feel like this vet is just too busy to give adequate care to all the animals. Which isn't fair for how expensive it was.

Mariah, I hope that Delilah is doing better. There are some misunderstandings or inaccuracies in your review that I feel I should address. Unfortunately, Delilah was in hepatic lipidosis. I did offer that I could put an esophageal feeding tube in her, but that I have not done one before. We usually send them to Fort Collins where they can have 24 hour care as it is a serious condition. I agreed to try force feeding for several days with one of the best complete nutrition diets available. The difference in price between us and the other clinic is that they were doing an outpatient surgery, where we kept her on IV fluids and force fed several times a day for several days. The food sent home with her is one of the highest recommended foods and she did like it and eat some on her own the first day, but no cat enjoys being force fed by syringe when they are nauseous and sick. Hence, the reason I recommended esophageal tube placement. I personally discussed bloodwork with you when I first saw Delilah and on discharge, after we rechecked bloodwork. If you didn't understand, I would have been happy to explain more. I do apologize if we haven't called to check on Delilah yet. We do have callbacks, but we are extremely busy and sometimes those get missed or delayed as we care for other patients. You are always welcome to call us and let us know how she is doing. I am glad to know that someone in Laramie performs the esophageal feeding tube surgery and I am sure Delilah will do better in the long run without having to force feed her. We take great pride in the care of our patients, and I personally (Dr. Shawn) oversaw her care while in our clinic.
From emergencies to the typical day to day vet care, I highly recommend Animal Health Center. Their veterinary team really truly cares about animals and it shows. My fur babies do very well under their care.
Facility was recently remodeled , user friendly , staff compassionate, they now have groomer with full service. If you call ahead staff will take your pet while you wait in car and return ... Wow I did not have to leave my car !
