I rarely appreciated how I was able to walk in when I need emergency care for my Pomeranian/Chihuahua. He had been picked up by the neck and thrown by a husky with food aggression.... over a small bowl of milk he was drinking.
Other than being in shock at the attack and terrified, I didn't think he was injured. Later that night he kept crying... we thought she had just injured his ear or shoulder.... no blood.... YET.
I noticed a little bit of seepage on a pillow he was laying on and found a deep, 1 1/2" gash on his neck and took him in the next morning... which was Sunday.
The lady doctor was thorough in her examination and explanation of his wound... which was a lot worse than I could see initially. He ended up with 15 stitches and a drain tube put in. Her home care instructions were detailed and easy to follow.
The cost complaints I've read in other reviews? This place is a walk-in, emergency facility... get that straight. I didn't pay any more than I would have expected to pay at his regular vet for what needed to be done! If it was my own injury that had to be fixed, it would have cost in the tens of thousand$! His follow-up visit to remove the drain tube was free.
Fair pricing for pet care...?? ABSOLUTELY! STOP GRIPING!

We were prescribed 500mg twice a day of antibiotics for our Welsh Corgi. This is way too high, more than what most humans are prescribed. Other vets won't prescribe more than 200mg twice a day for Great Danes. Prescribing too much can …

My experience was basically the same as previous reviewer Gavin Finch. Do not go here if you care about your pet. They'll keep them their all day for NO reason and are incompetent.

I've brought my furbaby to Banfield twice now, and I don't think I can fathom bringing her here again. I only brought her a second time because they seemed like they had the soonest appointment to get her shots updated, but now I wish I had called around to other vets that I could actually see and talk to.-I really don't like the drop off policy. It makes me very uncomfortable knowing my baby is back where I can't see her or what's happening to her. The first time I took her, I wasn't aware that I would have to leave her and was really uncomfortable after. I just needed a second opinion from another vet after a very stressful accident, and leaving her alone was scary for both of us.-The vets are overbooked and unavailable. My baby sits in a kennel for 2+ hours for a visit that would take less than 5 minutes to get her shots done (and I'm charged $35 for her to sit in a kennel for those 2 hours). I have never been able to meet with the vets in person.-I was anxious about my dog being left alone in a kennel for so long and told them I was getting stressed and she would be stressed too. They said she wasn't acting stressed and was fine, which I know was wrong because I could feel her stress the second the nurse put the lease around her and took her out of my arms.-The nurses had some “concerns” they wanted the vet to check out and tried to keep her for another hour or two. I explained I was anxious to have her back (I never left the parking lot while I waited for her) and wasn't comfortable being separated from her. They finally came and told me what their concerns were, which were all things I was aware of and our previous vet (who we love and wish we could return to, but we've moved too far away) has explained to me and never had a concern about.-While the nurse was explaining their concerns to me, she said that my dog's shots were done and she was ready to go, but didn't bring her out to me. I had already explained I was very anxious without her. We could have talked and I could have paid them with my baby securely back in my arms. I don't appreciate the lack of trust in seizing my dog until I've paid. Gives me more reason not to trust what happens behind closed doors where I'm not allowed access to my dog or to even see what's going on with her.-Looking over the bill afterward, we were charged for the shots, plus an extra $35 for my baby to do nothing in a kennel, $5 for them to throw the needle in a garbage can, and $50 for a visit where I never got to speak with the vet.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend bringing your dog here unless you really don't care about them, in which case why do you even have a dog? The nurses always commented on how cute my baby was, but there was also an air of fake sympathy and fake caring about the things I said that seemed off. Hopefully we can find a vet in the area who will actually see us in person and who won't keep her from me. Those few hours waiting in the Petsmart parking lot and the Banfield waiting room were filled with so much anxiety. I just can't take my baby back there.
